• Role: The main protagonist of the series.
• Appearance: He has dark, messy hair often tipped with burgundy, large dark red eyes (which appear bright magenta/purple in the artwork), and a distinctive scar on his forehead (which changes to a demon slayer mark later in the story). He typically wears a green and black checkered haori (traditional Japanese jacket) over his Demon Slayer Corps uniform.
• Personality: Tanjiro is incredibly kind, compassionate, and empathetic, even towards the demons he hunts. He is determined to find a cure for his sister Nezuko and avenge his family. He has a very strong sense of smell, which he uses to track demons and detect emotions.
• Abilities: He uses the Water Breathing style, which later evolves into the powerful, ancient Hinokami Kagura (Sun Breathing).
